“Paternal Sentiment of the Abandoned”

I will hold you tonight within this sepulchre.
We have been prematurely interred into our family tomb:
You and me, my son, and all of these brothers and cousins,
These uncles and grandfathers, whose bodies decompose with ours.
But for tonight, snuggle into my arms, my son, and dream of
Your mother and the world we lived in before it ended
And we were abandoned. I will protect you always.
